Gary, of Watsonville, CA has wanted for a while to purchase a Travel Air 2000 with a Curtiss OX-5 or OXX-6 engine. A month ago he drove to northern Minnesota and purchased a project, a 1927 model 2000 NC1572, s/n 225. The project came with a OX-5 and a OXX-6 engine.
This is a early Travel Air with a welded on engine mount. The aircraft has a history in Florida and was flying 20 years ago. Gary needs a Dixie magneto switch for his panel.... can anyone help him with finding one? He can also use some engine cowling to buy or copy. Gary also owns a very nice Waco RNF with a 145hp Warner, a Piper J-3 Cub and Fairchild 24 project nearing completion.
Here are some recent photos of a happy new Travel Air owner!
